I have been to Dish Network's web site, and can not find any info on leasing a 942. Nothing comes up in "search" either. Can you only purchase them now?

Why? It's still there. (As before, for new customers only.)
Just go to "Get Dish" in the top menu, select "Order Online", enter your zip, in question #1 select 2 rooms, in question #2 select "I want to pause live TV... and whatch HD". In step 2 select Option 2 "942 DVR" and you will see the lease price of $250 in the quote.

It states on the Dishnetwork Receiver Options that current subscribers can only purchase the 942 from a dealer. I'd like to have one too, but I think I'll wait till the mpeg 4 technology comes on line.
