Let me get this straight

I have a couple of D* recievers,I am an exsub.I know i can activate them without contract and not go under lease.
Can i buy a standard reciever from ebay or yard sale and activate it and own it and not go under lease?
Would it matter if it was used or new?

From what I gather, as long as you state you bought it online, they should mark it as owned, just stay on top of it to make sure they don't try and mark it as leased. It should not matter if new or used.
