Here it is everyone! I have all the beams matched up to the transponder IDs. This should give you an idea of what will be available in your area.

This is the list of current new transponders for E14 in the system right now, this is NOT all the capabilities of this satellite. Each spotbeam should link to the map it covers.

Transponder Changes:

I've noticed some areas, such as the south east, have 8PSK spotbeams as well as QPSK spotbeams. Will the 8PSK ones be used to add missing HD cities, or fill in the missing channels in existing cities (such as HD CW MyNetworkTV)?

Thanks Digiblur!:up

The ones For Puerto Rico looks nice!

Glad to see the one beam that covers my area, A12 is on. Sadly, it can only broadcast of TPs 2 and 8. We know from the FCC application, they have no immediate plans to use any TPs higher than 5 for spots.

For being a massive spot, covering Indiana and Ohio, I wonder what the plans are. Besides putting one of our RSNs or 2 on there, I bet my DMA sees nothing.

I'm guessing the QPSK ones will replace the existing E7 beams and SD locals, while the 8PSK will be more for HD LiL and maybe some RSNs?

By the way, thanks for the hard work!

*First of all... Thank you very much for posting this, Digi. You give us some of the best info on the site*

Seeing the footprint of A13, makes me wonder why my locals are going to be on 77.

They will have lots of dishes to change out. Maybe they will change their mind and put them on A13/119.

Yes, you can say the 8PSK ones will be HD for the most part. Although there are a few SD DMAs that have gone on 8PSK beams on Western Arc. Alexandria, LA is one that I know of offhand. So it isn't a guarantee.

You never know...they might be in a holding pattern. But the only thing with A13 is it transmits on 1, 7, 9, 13. And as of now they are only using 1-5 to transmit on as 6-21 will be used for CONUS. The might not want to back themselves into a corner by putting two markets of HD locals on one transponder.

Another example of this is.... on 129 they had a beam covering the Lake Charles, LA DMA with only 3 HD channels on it(Lafayette, LA locals). Lake Charles only has NBC, FOX, and PBS in their market and it would have fit perfect on that transponder with Lafayette, LA. But nope, they added Lake Charles on 77w. So definitely some future planning going on that you and I might not see.

And I don't know if I beat Scott G on offering the best info ;)

Additional tid bits I have confirmed from other contacts on E14...

Their plan is to launch 4-6 HD channels per DMA. The current SD DMAs will remain on spotbeams in MPEG2 mode for now. They have 5 new HD markets and 14 new SD markets planned. I believe some of these were talked about on the Charlie Chat & Retailer Chat.

CONUS TP 2 content will move to TP 7. CONUS TP 4 will move to 9. And of course spot beam 7 and 9 will go away and 2 and 4 will become spotbeams. Even swap.

Guys i dont understand how would these work for Kentucky. We are on eartern arch satellites. would they switch everyone around?

If you are already on EA with your HD locals then you're good to go, don't worry about this satellite as it probably will have nothing to do with your DMA.

I'm threw together the list of current TIDs that are slated to be active, kicked out the ones that transmit on TP 6 or higher, kicked out the shared uplink ones, and there's 3 more TIDs they could light up.

As soon as I can I'll get the list together in a readable format to show you guys what they will be using and what will be idle for now.
