Hi guys,

I just had Dish installed last week and I was talking with the tech, he mentioned since my local channels aren't broadcasted in HD that its possible to buy an antenna and mount it on your roof to pick up the local HD channels, (this is going to be a must for me with both football seasons around the corner).

I have a Sharp Aquos 1080p LCD HDTV and the ViP722 Receiver
This TV is in my basement (3 story house)...I'd be able to run a cable to the top of the roof for the antenna -- That's possible right?

Has anyone tried this?
What antenna do you use? How much was it, where did you get it from?...etc
The cheaper the better :)

Thanks guys!

How far away from the towers are you? If you live less than 30 miles from the transmission towers a simple AMPLIFIED UHF/VHF rabbit ears TV antenna for $30 might do the trick! I have been doing this with my 622 for over 18 months. I keep intending to get a larger antenna, but this little rabbit ears gets stations from as far as 40 miles away with little trouble.

An outside antenna is always better to prevent ghosting (which kills the signal dead on digital TVs), but it may be a good stop-gap.

Antennaweb is one of your best sources for outside antennas!

See ya
Tony
