If I "move" from San Diego to San Francisco will I be able to get SF locals? I have a Dish 500. I looked through some threads and both locals are on the same satellite so I should? Forgive my ignorance.

No, because, while the locals might be on the same satellite, they are on different spot beams. San Diego's doesn't reach San Francisco and vice-versa.....

Your only hope would be to get the big 4 SDs thru My Distant Networks, but I assume you wouldn't qualify with a San Diego address.

I use Direct to get locals from L.A. I live in the Sierras east of Sacramento. Who would have thunk? I get KCAL in HD with no problem. I use it to get Dodger games. So even though I have been told year after year I couldn't get these, I do. San Diego, being further south, might be a problem so I am probably just on the edge.
