locals in hd

I get my local channels from corpus christi on dish tv,,,who get there signal from directv...Question is do the local people have to broadcast in hd or will the satelitte supplier Dish in my case convert them to hd before i can receive
them hd?????? thanx

If your local channels are not in HD, Dish will not supply them in HD. Any sd signal upconverted to HD will not look much better than the sd signal would so why would anyone waste the bandwidth.
