Currently have 942 lease w/ 60, HD Pak + Voom + fees = $65 monthly.

After years of DBS, we've determined that we now watch 95% pure HD OTA
(we get 7 Minneapolis, 3 Rochester and 2 Eau Claire HD channels).
All we want is stand-alone 250+gb hdd HD PVR (with guide) for OTA.

$625. for 622 w/ $25 monthly or $600? Tivo Series 3 (Oct '06) W/$15 monthly are present contenders.

500gb Tivo will allow recording of 2 OTA. It looks best.
Until it's released, we may buy 622 and sell it Nov, Dec. To me, $200+ cost of 'using'
622 is preferable to paying $200+ to Dish for a bunch of SD fuzz we don't watch.
Regardless, in 6 months, we'll be paying $600+ less per year.
(942 would have much lower resale value).

I think there's an HD-DVR ota available right now by sony, I don't think it's a "TIVO" though

BFG's right; Sony DHG-HDD250/500 HD DVR-
a pretty well rated single tuner unit (discontinued 4 months ago).
Considered it until I learned the next gens with dual tuners are coming in a few months.

I have one of these. NICE. I got it for like $250, about a third of the original MSRP. Visit every Tweeters in your area to see if they have one left over they could sell you. I doubt any are still available, though. LGs are nice but may not have EPG data.

It'll be interesting to see if Sony really puts out a dual tuner version. Tivo has a good sounding unit on the way.
