I received the Sirius Sportster 5 for Xmas and installed it in the Home. I purchased and mounted an external home antenna on the west side of the house (I am in NE PA.)

I tuned it to get the max satellite signal....but the signal regularly - goes away completely.....what’s up w/ that??? .....

The sky is clear w/ light clouds.....

I read that the Sirius Satellites move??

looking to get educated here.......What am I doing wrong?
 
Sirius has three satellites, and they are each in an elliptical orbit, not fixed. For comparison, XM, DirecTV, and Dish Network all use fixed satellites.

I was able to mostly solve my Sirius reception issues by locating my antenna outside and pointing it straight up. It's helpful to imagine that the Sirius satellites are transmitting from directly above northern Minnesota (fixed satellites are above the equator). This means that most people in the USA should point North and Up, and people in Canada should point South and Up.
