I have a VIP 622 coming next week... and in the mean time setting up my Dish 1000+.

I am pulling in all signals correctly, 119/110/118/129...

-119 has signal strengths of 80+, transponder 3 shows 103 strength.

PROBLEM: for 129, I am ONLY getting transponder 5, 16, 17, 21,32 ---other transponders I get zero

For the 129 signal, I am getting signal strength in 45-48 with the above TPs....

My location is Los Angeles, CA..

QUESTION:
1) Since I dont have my VIP unit yet, I am testing signal on a non-HD receiever DP301...so will the other transponders come in with the VIP unit?

2) Anyone know of an UPDATED list of Transponders for 129?

3) Will I get ANY channels at all with 129 signal TP- 5, 16, 17, 21, 32????

Any ideas? thanks

PS. DPP 1000+ is running with a DPP 44+ switch

The 301 will only pick up certain transpondcers on 129 - your results sound about right.

WHEW! SO Happy to hear this!

I was going crazy over my TP problems...

By the way, I plan on using the 622 in dual tuner (2 room mode)

Am I correct that for tv2, I cannot get HD output?

You can watch "satellite" HD channels though on TV2. The 622 will just down convert the signal and you will see it letterboxed on your TV.

You can not watch OTA HD on TV2 live. That is not to say you could start recording an OTA HD program, wait a few minutes, and then start watching that recording on your TV2. Again, it is going to be down coverted and letterboxed.

Here's a list... SatelliteGuys.US - Subscription 129°W

With the 301, it will only tune to the QPSK modulation transponders.

Correct. TV 2 is NOT HD. Component and HDMI output simultaneaously if that's of any help to you.

TV2 is not HD, it is 480i but on a smaller 16x9 set (under 30"-40" or so) the HD chans can look very nice. We had 2 x 42" LCD's hooked up to a 622 in our office, one hooked up via component (1080i/720P) and one coax (480i) they were on opposite walls so you couldn't see them at the same time. It wasn't immediately obvious which one was true HD when you looked at them, it took some looking to figure it out. Just FYI.

for TV2:

which is a better output option for me?

Standard Component (Y/R/W) or RF Coax output?

ALSO: bought this unit on ebay...so it doesnt come with manuals..

How do I place the unit in dual tuner 2 tv output mode?

Is it automatic?

Thanks again!

For short cable runs (50-100 feet), you'll get better quality from the component outputs. For longer runs use good quality component cable or run coax for the RF feed.

You switch between single and dual mode with a button on the front panel.

You can download the manual at the Dish website:

Y/R/W is COMPOSITE not component.

You CAN view HD on the 2nd TV if you run a HDMI cable to it and use the COMPONENT (B/G/R) TV1 video outs and (R/W) TV1 audio outs to the other TV with the receiver in SINGLE mode--same channel/same time. Pick up an inexpensive HDMI cable from monoprice.com .
You can find the manual on Dish's site in PDF format.
Yer welcome.

Ed, you're correct. My mistake with composite and component..

ANyhow, another question:

Currently I have 3 recievers, 1-dp501, and 2-dp301

-One of the DP301 will be replaced with the new 622...

So QUESTION IS:

Which port should I connect the power inserter (slot 1 output on dp44 to)??

Currently, I have 501 DVR connected to output-1 of the DPP44...is this okay?

Which output slot should I use for the 622 receiver?

The best transponder to check is TP 21 on both 119 and 110. If your signal is above 61 on the modified meter, it's up to current Dish installation standards. 129 will come in as good as it's going to get. Just make sure your settings are right on the skew, and if the 119 and 110 signals are good you should be set.
