Loyalty Offer

Good deals for sure. One thing that keeps coming back in my mind though...Seems like there were some customers that didn't qualify for the reduced Hopper upgrades because they had received credits on their bill.Might want to ask about that when you speak to the loyalty dept.

I wanted a new receiver, i was out of contract so i had to re-up for another 2 years. I got $10 off for 12 months and bb@ home for 3 months. I already has hbo for half off for 6months

I think it is good that Dish gives loyalty offers as it is cheaper to keep a sub than to lose one and pay all the costs of acquiring another in it's place. It shows customer some appreciation.

It took them how many years to figure this out? 16 years?

When they where cranking out a million customers per year, they didn't care. Now that they got customers leaving in groves, and can't sign up enough to take their place, now retention matters.

I might sound harsh, but its the truth!

I agree with you Claude. I think they are offering more offers lately than what they used to for more customers but i have been able to get deals and discounts for several years now, at least the last five years, although I had some issues with them which may have been why. These new offers are given without having issues with the billing or service or other special circumstances like I may have been through.

Glad my thread helped save you close to 200$ !

Spread the word! This is a great offer.

Amen Claude

Would that be Orange Groves?

To clarify, per Reuters they are not only adding subs again, they're adding them faster than investors expected:

"Dish ...... added a net 104,000 subscribers during the quarter, topping analysts' average estimate of 62,000, according to StreetAccount data. It was Dish's second quarter in a row of subscriber growth, after shedding about 250,000 subscribers during the second and third quarters of 2011."

And per finance.yahoo.com:

"....the company generated huge net subscriber addition in the previous quarter buoyed by lower churn rate." and "....in the first quarter of 2012, DISH Network gained 104,000 net subscribers compared with 58,000 subscribers in the year-ago quarter. "

Clearly, despite the ill wishes of some, they are doing quite well. And the boost from the Hopper system hasn't kicked in yet. Is it really wise to insist things are worse than they really are ( with due respect to Bob )?

DISH pays about $751 for each "new" sub and DIRECTV ponies up about $857 for each new sub.

YMMV, indeed. I was not as bold nor as lucky. I asked today about my contract status and learned I was no longer under contract. I was asking for several reasons: the AMC debacle, price comparisons and, the biggie: one CSR I talked to earlier in the day had quoted me a price of $150 ($100 tech visit and $50 to adjust) just to realign the dish after a re-roofing.

The second rep said there was nothing he could do about AMC and that I should know the channel was still available, blah blah blah. He said they really wanted to keep my business, but didn't make any offer to keep me. The only way he said I could reduce the realignment fee was to sign up for the protection plan, which would reduce the cost significantly but also cost me $7 a month.

I told him no thank you and that I'd be looking for other providers. He made no offers to make the situation better.

Luckily, we had great roofers who properly reinstalled the dish and it's working fine tonight.

I've always had great service from Dish and always received great, timely responses when I've had questions or problems.

A side note: I did tweet about this experience, and the Dish Answers crew responded immediately with a friendly, helpful comment. I'm still not entirely dissuaded from shopping around, but I'm no longer fuming.

You did'nt get that great an offer.
You sorta got screwed, as I and others got a much better deal after being a customer for over 19 years.

So what exactly did you get? OP said he was out of his 2-year contract so chances are he's only been with Dish for 2 years. I wouldn't say he got "screwed" if that is the case. Unless you're referring to the porn? lol
