All viruses are malware. Not all malware is a virus.

So, the difference between the software is what it's looking for. I use Linux exclusively and don't think much about it anymore, but I'm fairly certain most anti-virus software comes equipped with an all-encompassing anti-malware element. But, then again, I do recall Malwarebytes finding quite a bit more to deal with on my computer than Microsoft Security Essentials.

I saw this and thought about my son's trip to the mall and the Hollister shirts he bought. I wish he came with Anti-Mallware!

I have found Malwarebytes to be a very effective program for malware, and AVG for antivirus.
