In many places, at least in the past, this was known as Decoration Day. This day memorializes no battles, the signing of no armistices, or anything of any military significance. This day is set when it is for one reason, flowers are in bloom, and could be used to decorate the graves of the dead. This is not a day to glorify war, but to remember the price war exacts upon those who give themselves as a sacrifice that we can remain free. They are our heroes. God bless them.
