system. Monsters HD presents new and vintage horror films uncut, commercial-free and in new remastered widescreen transfers (with 5.1 surround sound where applicable). The titles range from ’50s epics such as GODZILLA to gruesome classics like THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, DAWN OF THE DEAD and THE EVIL DEAD to a number of cult B-movies currently unavailable on DVD, including GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE, THE BOOGENS, GRIZZLY, TENTACLES, OCTAMAN and many others. Monsters HD will also feature original exclusive hi-def programming covering subjects like Sideshow Toys, the Don Post studios, haunted houses and more, plus more broadcast premieres including, in December, Dick Maas’ THE SHAFT (a.k.a. DOWN).

Here's some information that I was able to dig out. Did anyone see the first movie?

Entire Interview

gingersnaps2---sullivan-int.jpg

RR: And then you brought in screenwriter Megan Martin?

BS: Let's see, we hammered out a basic story of what we wanted and I guess Megan was brought on a few months later. We scoured the country looking for writers. It wasn't our main mandate but we wanted a female writer because here's five guys in a room talking about two girls going through a werewolf thing, what do we know? So we brought on Megan because we liked her sensibilities. She wasn't afraid to broach subjects, particularly, we wanted to do the whole werewolf mating thing. That's a dangerous subject to touch on with censors and things. Megan wasn't afraid to go to those darker places. Thank God she came up with the film's masturbation scene and not me!

RR: Oh, well, we'll touch on that scene later...

BS: "Touch on," that's a good one!

RR: I've already talked to Emily about this, but let's hear the director's experiences shooting the film's group masturbation sequence.

BS: I was just nervous as nervous can be. You're asking all these girls to do something on a very personal level. Again, I had to rush through this scene and here I have eighteen girls laying on the floor. First of all I wanted to make them all look like druggies but I wanted them to look sexy. Here they all are and I'm like, "Okay, do you guys mind masturbating for me?" [laughs] They all knew in advance what they were doing...

RR: There was a script, after all.

BS: There was a script and they all had to agree to do this sexual scene. So, on set, I made light of it a little bit and said, make it look real, place your hands in the necessary spots because the camera will be going over all of them. It's gonna look like crap if it's done wrong. While the camera's rolling I'm yelling one through five. One is you put your hands down your pants, five is you're supposed to orgasm. For the first ten minutes they'd be giggling and laughing about the words I was using. Tee hee, I said clitoris! But by the third hour it was like, okay, it's not funny anymore let's just get the shot! The music for that scene worked too.

gingersnaps2---brigitte-sla.jpg

RR: Let's talk about Kurt Swinghammer's score a bit, it's got a little industrial edge to it. Again, another massive contrast to the original.

BS: From the get-go I wanted a natural, f**ked up thing. Nothing traditional. No strings or horns. I wanted it to be different. We found Kurt who's not conventional but a rookie like myself. I told him I didn't want traditional instruments to be used. If you use a string, do it in a different way. So, there's a little guitar used, but it's guitar played by magnets or something. To me it's really unique. Some of the stuff he delivered was amazing and it's very different from the prequel which has a more classical score.

RR: Excellent. We covered a lot of ground, Brett, thanks for chatting with us!

BS: No problem.

Well, I could not watch this today. Too many HD programs and no dvr. Here's the schedule for next week.

February 9: 12:00PM, 7:45PM, 10:15PM
