Charlie talked a while back on the Charlie Chat about one day having channels on a buy per channel (bpc) basis.I was thinking with the economy the way it is ,that would seem like a pretty good idea.I only watch about 15 to 20 or so channels anyway.I know we have some channels on ala carte now.Im sure of course the sports channels will be the most expensive. They could break them down in divisions:
Variety:
TBS ,TNT,USA,COMEDY CENTRAL,TV LAND,FOOD NETWORK ETC......,

Movies: lifetime movie network,TCM , AMC,FOX MOVIE CH,HDNET MOVIES ETC.
SPORTS:ESPN,ESPN 2,ESPNU,COLLEGE SPORTS,FUEL,SPEED ,ETC..
SPECIAL INTEREST: DIY,STYLE,HISTORY.HISTORY INT,NATGEO,NAT GEO WILD,G4,ID,ETC
KIDS: NICK,NICK JR.CARTOON NET.DISNEY ,DSNXD,BOOMERANG,HUB,ANIMAL PLANET/ETC...
MUSIC/ALL SIRUIUS CHANNELS,MTV,MTV2 ,CMT,GAC ,VH1,VH1CLassic .etc

This is all just an example not to be taken seriously as to what Dish might or might not do in the future...
They could group together certain channels or charge anywhere from $1.00 to $5 a channel.I would defintely be interested in doing this ,if something like this were to happen.Just my thoughts on being a Dish network subscriber......

Yea the providers would be the real decision makers. They would probably want to much money.Kind of the same problem Dish and other network providers are going threw now.

OLD topic, and one we will rehash forever. Because it will never happen. The networks will not take less money, so any form of a la cart will not save us any money.

It could happen... After an apocalypse that wipes out everybody who knows anything about broadcast/cable television (and also whatever causes the apocalypse also wipes out all records thereof)... Then, when civilization has re-evolved back to the point of having television again, MAYBE more al-carte'.
