My book essentials question

I was recently given a nearly new My Book Essentials external drive that I would like to use in place of the old external DVR drive on my VIP211. I understand this drive has a power down and sleep mode can they be disabled?

The WD's sleep mode is not a problem. It's the Seagates that cause you to have to power it down then back for the reciever to recognize it.
