Hi Folks,

I'm sure that you're familiar with GeoSatPro HDVR3500 FTA Satellite receiver. ??

I have a problem for months, and am wondering IF you know any firmware,
or "BOOT" firmware for this satellite receiver?? Or which other firmware you call it.

I'll explain it clearly on this post as I can... It's Frustrating...

The problem I'm experiencing for months is that when I turn ON the
GeoSatPro HDVR3500 FTA receiver, I see the Logo of
"GeoSat Pro HDVR3500" that last 5 minutes!!!!

After that, the next thing I saw was the clock setup and time zone setup.

Man, you gotta be kidding ME!!!
That means START ALL OVER AGAIN.

LOST all of my satellite list and the satellite channel
I was watching.

Glad I SAVED or BACKUP ALL of my satellite list onto
my USB flash drive!!! GOOD!!! GREAT!!!

But everytime when I turn on the GeoSatPro HDVR3500 FTA
satellite receiver, I see the FRESH START with the time zone setting,
I had to DOWNLOAD my satellite list from my USB flash drive,
OFTEN, EVERYTIME when I turn on this satellite receiver.

This also means that THIS satellite receiver doesn't REMEMBER
my satellite list, and the last satellite channel I watched.

It starts out all over again. BLANK, completely "Vegetable " receiver,
meaning NO BRAIN Educate to remember when turn ON.

I am wondering do any of you have a firmware that I could download
to install into this GeoSatPro HDVR3500 FTA satellite receiver, that
would boots up properly and ready to go with all of my satellite list SAVED
internally. And NOT have to download it from my flash drive, at every time????

It's frustrating, and I keep forgetting that I have a problem.

Again, I'm GLAD that I SAVED all of my satellite list onto my flash drive,
so that I wouldn't have to spend all day re-program satellite list, as well.
I've done it before, and it was a pain in a BUTT!!!

I'm including a screenshot from my GeoSatPro HDVR3500 FTA satellite
receiver's INFO. so that you would have a better understanding which
firmware I have NOW. And which Firmware I should have.
As long it doesn't lose my program satellite list and settings.

I hope you understand it all as I describe on this post. Well, I tried.

Hope all helps with answers.

Thanks,
Eugene

Disconnect all external drives and reboot
If the issue occurs without drives attached, perform a factory reset then reboot. If the problem still continues the firmware is either corrupted and needs to be reloaded or the flash memory has failed. Likely an issue with the internal (onboard swappable) USB drive.

Contact the distributor for support. They will either provide firmware to reload or you may need to send it in for service / replacement.

Hi Titanium,

I did re-boot it without the USB flash drive.
And again, with the USB flash drive, inserted.

I do not understand about the Factory reset
part.

I did contact "Satellite AV" in California about
this issue. The technician there couldn't figure
it out, but sent me the last firmware to try out.
And it didn't make any difference.

I forgot to ad in my previous message..

Since I hate to download my SAVED
satellite list onto this receiver, I've
been letting this receiver ON ALL the
time, even at bedtime. Because of
starts over again IF I were to turn it
OFF and ON.

I do NOT understand about doing the
Factory reset. Do I do this with the
USB flash drive connected, or dis-connect???
Do I use the factory reset when I
turn it back ON??? Which my satellite
list won't be stored, as I described.

Can you clearly explain it to me???

Thanks,
Eugene

If you already loaded new firmware, this already did a "factory reset". No need to perform a factory reset again.

Does this problem only happen after loading your satellite list? What happens if you don't load your satellite list and just scan one satellite? If the STB can be powered cycled without resetting and going through the extended reboot before loading your satellite list, the fault may be caused by a corrupted satellite list.

My guess is that the internal USB flash drive has failed and will need to be replaced or the main flash has a defect. Contact Satellite AV again and you will probably be asked to send the unit in for testing and repair.

Hi,

When I turned on the receiver and notice
that my satellite list are gone....Then I
decided to TEST by just scan 1 satellite
and saved it in the "internal", NO USB
flash drive insert. And then I turn off the
receiver, and turn it back on, it's GONE.
Starts over again with the time zone and clock. The 1 satellite I scanned was gone.

Is the what you want to know???

Eugene

OK, so it is not a corrupted satellite list that you are loading. This is definitely a internal memory issue. Likely the internal USB swappable thumb drive (either 32 or 64GB) or a main flash failure. Looks like the STB will need to take a road trip back to the mothership...

Had a similar problem with this receiver about 2 yrs ago..sent it back to Eugene at Satellite AV and he replaced it..good luck.

Hi Lucky53,

Thanks, I do know this Gene, who has the same name like me. I e-mailed him about this
problem, and he sent me some firmware samples that didn't work.
But once I get a satellite receiver replacement
to use, then I'll send this receiver to that Gene at Satellite AV.
I cannot live without satellite IF I don't get
a second one as a replacement.

Thanks,
Eugene

Hello. Just wondering how this worked out? How much did it cost? Mine has been doing the same thing, but unfortunately I didn’t have the flash drive backup. Every time the power would go out even for 10 seconds it would lose its memory. So I would just load up the bird I was going to watch. I was going to get a little UPS for it but I do need to do a little dish maintenance anyway.

If you decide to get a UPS for it and it runs on standard 12 VDC search ebay for Belkin 12V backup. These can output up to 3 amps and most 12V satellite receivers use a 1.5 to 2 amp adapter so there is power to spare. They are great for satellite receiver power backup and can be had for little cost. I got mine several years ago for something like $30 shipped and it has been running fine ever since. Just buy from a reputable seller and make sure they say it is tested and working. :)

Here is some more info from the Belkin site: Belkin Official Support - Getting to know the Belkin Residential Gateway (RG) Battery Backup REV B, BU3DC001-12V

Thanks for the info. I didn’t have notifications enabled so I didn’t see your reply until now.
