A little bit of an update on my problem.
I don't have to even jiggle the power cord in the back. All I have to do is use a relatively light force to press on the case at the back right corner where the power cable attaches to the box. Annoyingly, they want me to call back when the failure occurs. I assume they'll run me through the silly garbage of plugging/unplugging/waiting/rebooting/etc. Ugh. But I guess I don't really have much of a choice.
