Nasa Channel Moving
Effective on Wednesday, May 5th, by 5pm ET,
NASA will be moving from channel 213 to channel 212.
(Messaging on channel 213 will alert customers that NASA’s new channel
location will be 212 as of May 5, 2009. May 12th though May 17th, a slate
will run on channel 213 announcing the move)

DISH EARTH Moving
Effective on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, by 5pm ET, Dish Network will move the
Dish Earth channel from its current location at 212 to its new location at
channel 295.

Then why would they move NASA to 212. Wouldn't it make more sense to leave it on 213 and put C-SPAN3 on 212?

Yes, but which channel number would they map it down to?
As I understand NASA HD is not the same programming as NASA SD, so they can't just map it down to the same channel number - that wouldn't make much sense.

When FOOD hd premiered..it had different programming then Food-sd but was still mapped down
