Over the weekend I was in Atlanta and my wife and I had nothing really to do so last Friday night she asked me where Nascar was racing. I told her Charlotte but its a non points race. She said lets go so we took the 4 hour or so trek over to Charlotte and bought good seats at the ticket office.

I have been to speed week at Daytona but never been to Charlotte let alone any other non points race. I explained to my wife why they used the format they did in order to keep the race interesting, and it was. Before the race they had a free concert in the infield featuring 3 Doors Down, they were great!

They kept saying that the All Star race was win it and take home $1 million or take home your stearing wheel. A lot of the racers said they would win it or wreck the car trying which I didn't believe a minute of. Especially when on the last pit stop the Hendrick cars took the three different options that you have in a pit stop, two tires (right side since its left turn only), four tires and no tire change. It was very obvious that they were looking to how there cars were going to run in a group with those changes in next weeks race.

The best part of the whole thing was that it was probably the most beautiful day that I have seen in a long time. Also it was nice that my wife suggested it out of the blue, I knew they were there but didn't bother saying anything because I didn't think she would go for it.

yea I thought the race was boring. I'm hoping for better racing this weekend.

I would not count on it.

This race probably won't be over till around midnight at the earliest.
Not sure why it's starting so late especially seeing it's the longest race of the year.
I think it starts at 6 pm

It starts late because of the Indianapolis 500 of course.
