I have the nba package, I paid a lot of money for it channel 9466 says NBAHD on the guide and is supposed to carry certain games in HD. One game is supposed to be on right now and it's not, I noticed this before and thought it was a fluke. It has happened the last few times.

I am on the phone with tech support and they are telling me there is no channel in there system called nbahd!! that 9466 is not an nba channel and i am looking at on my guide. Now she is telling me they have not yet acquired the channel or something and that came from a manager. I told her I need a refund for false advertising and she has told me that she won't do it. So I read her their webpage, (on the left) http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/programming/ppv/sports_events/basketball/index.shtml

NBA GAMES IN HD can be
viewed on Channel 9466 at the
110 orbital location. Requires a
subscription to NBA TV (NBA TV
is available to HD customers
who subscribe to the Everything
Pak, Multi Sport Package or to
NBA League Pass. HD receiver,
HD monitor and a DISH Network
antenna pointed at the correct
orbital location required to view
HD programming.

That's from their website. On hold. Getting connected to a supervisor. Supervisor admits there is a problem but she has no information available. Welook at forums together check the guide and it shows no games ever coming up. The supervisor is very helpful but says that even she cannot do a refund. She is going to give me call back and I will report back to the board with what I hear. She is also going to send a note to all of the CSR's to let them know about our little issue and talk to the executives. I told her anyone one that has the HD box and the NBA package deserves some sort of refund. This is plainly false advertising. Frankly I only watch games in HD. The SD feed is pretty much the worst I have seen.

I sent her a post from another forum where they were running into the same CSRs that hardly even knew the channel existed. What do you guys think about this?

She actually called me later that night and said she found out that the station is in test mode. And they are only testing it on Wednesdays, that if we are going to see any games they will be on this day. I just checked the schedule and there are no NBAHD games on Wed this year. So that means no HD games for us and that they have falsely advertised the package.

The wierd thing is I watched plenty of games last year on this channel.

Apparently, it's only Wednesdays with a full moon, a west wind and a low tide.

I have called to complain about the phantom NBA-HD channel as well, and pointed out the completely misleading Web page. If enough of us complain, maybe we'll see some results. :( We got the games last year, why the take-away?

Maybe if you make a point that DirecTV is carrying NBA TV HD the next time you call it will get more attention.

I will make that point and mention once again that false advertising is probably against some laws, and there are probably some lawyers who subscribed, who are probably looking for some work. There is also something called the BBB and a lot of other dish and nba forums to post to.

I doubt it will.. Obviously if the supervisor couldnt do anything about it, not much will be done without going higher anyway.. Which cant really be done easily by calling the csr's

I've been complaining to E* for the lack of NBATV-HD since the NBA season started last month. Usually I get the "canned" response saying "that NBATV-HD programming is not currently available... blah blah blah"

Today, I finally got a different/interesting response:

Dear Mr. xxxx,

Thank you for your interest in Dish Network HD programming. We have a strategic plan that we are currently developing, but for obvious reasons it cannot be publicly disclosed. We hope to have something to announce sometime in the near future. Rest assured…we are aggressively working this plan.

Thank you

xxxxxx

Obviously, the "plan" she's refering to is the launch of new VOOM channels + ESPN2-HD. Would it also include NBATV-HD back on channel 9466????

Last year I was recieving NBAHD games and didn't even have the NBA package. - don't know why they don't have any games on that channel this year.

Was the sunday Dec 18 game carried on dish NBA-HD? Will some/all of the other games be carried? Next one on the schedule is listed is Jan 2.

I subscribed last week to the multisport package hoping to get NBA HD. I asked them when the games are going to be broadcast there. They also did not know that the channel even exist.

I called today about a tech problem and asked about HD Programming. They said that soon they suppose to be having some new HD Channels. I also asked about Voom and said that they too suppose to be adding some more HD channels. They had no idea what the release dates are.

Steve

I just called Dish (I think everyone who wants NBA HD should) and the guy said that it was not an actual channel but said he has no idea what its for. Said maybe something they are working on. He did say that he has had people call in about it.

Steve

This is just plain ridiculous that they have a channel on their guide visible to everyone and yet do not know what the F*** is supposed to be showing. Yet they are still advertising the channel on their website. This is just plain stupid!!!!!

I am glad to see more people finding this post and sharing there frustrations. It somehow makes me feel better but at the same time does anyone have any solutions. When a company makes a false advertisement isn't there something the people can do??? Is the next step to go to the media, a lawyer? I've never had a company just blatently lie to me like this on their website.

It's amazing how many of us hear the same "that channel doesn't exist" line from CSRs at Dish Network.

We're supposed to get NBAHD if we have League Pass or the multisport package.

Keep calling. Keep BAM'ing.
