NBC Shuffles Tuesday, Bringing Back 'Joey,' Extending 'Office'

By Charley Daniels
The former Thursday night comedy and "Friends" spinoff "Joey" will return to NBC's schedule with original episodes starting Tuesday, March 28, at 8 p.m. (ET).

"Joey" replaces the reality series "Fear Factor," which is slated to return to the network's schedule in the summer. Repeat episodes of "Joey" will air at 8:30 p.m. on Mar. 7, 14 and 21, with repeats of the hospital comedy "Scrubs" taking over the time period on March 28.

"Scrubs," which has been running two original episodes in the 9 p.m. hour block on Tuesdays, will run only at the 9 p.m. half-hour to make room for the debuting midseason comedy "Teachers," starting March 28. Initially "Teachers" was slated to debut on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. April 6.

"Teachers" was supposed to take over for current Thursday 9:30 p.m. placeholder "The Office," whose season finale was scheduled for March 30, but the show has been growing in the ratings on Thursdays since it moved to its new time period from its old Tuesday 9:30 p.m. time slot. An additional original episode of "Office" plus repeats will now fill the Thursday time period through May 11.
