I work for the local cable company and will be switching jobs next week. When you work for this cable company, you get 100% of the regular channels and movie channels for free. So, needless to say, I have had cable ever since I started working for the cable company. Since I am changing jobs, I am going back to satellite.

I have one HD TV in which I will need an HD receiver w/ DVR.
I have one non-HD TV which will require one receiver. (NO DVR needed)

NOTE: I already have two older (non-HD) DirecTV receivers which work just fine. I also have the two purple cards for those receivers. (during the time I have worked for the cable company, I would activate DirecTV every fall so I could have NFL Sunday Ticket).

I also have one of the old "round" dishes still in very good shape with a double LNB which works fine.

HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS:

1. I would like to own all of my equipment and install it all myself. Will I need a new "elliptical" dish? I live in Tucson, AZ. I am not really that interested in my local channels. I live "line of sight" from the digital transmitters on a nearby mountain and can easily receive them off the air.

2. What is a good HD/DVR receiver I could purchase off eBay?

I would GREATLY appreciate your advice.
