I ordered a 211K from Dish store and I got it today! Ran the lines to it, and went to do a check switch. Checkswich from the DPP44 comes out fine, 77,72,61.5 all ok. But the problem is when I go to the signal screen, the reciver shows that im not getting any signal (not true as every other reciver in my house works great!) It wont let me do a software download into it as it thinks im on no bird even though I am according to the check switch matrix.

I swapped reciver locations w/ one that is known to work thinking maybe it was the original location and my crimps werent right w/ my snap n seal's (rember I was a DNS tech at one time so I do know how to run a line to Dish's specifications) It does the same thing.

Any idea what I need to do to get new software into this thing in hopes of salvaging it before determining that this thing is a dud?

Yep, I did. Seems like after a new software download and activation the reciver is working fine. It was a pain in the neck getting it to see that its on eastern arch as it seems like these recivers are setup for WA by default in all of the menus and system monitoring menus. They should have it setup if its not seeing 119, 110 or 129, that it monitors 61.5, 72, and 77 instead as its kind of weird seeing 0's in the sys diagnostics screens.

It was just weird that it would act that way. It really didnt clear up until it was fully activated. Over all another great experence from claude and the gang! Shipping was very quick and everything was up to expectations! Thanks DishStore.net! :) Im a happy camper! And so is my mom as she now has tv in her room! (mom moved in with us)

Same thing happened to me when I tried to install a 722k last year and the 922 receiver a couple of weeks ago. Both saw the check switch for eastern arc ; 77/72.7/61.5. But when it came time to download the software and guide update , it went to 119 sat , which I didn't have in the install. So to fix it and get past this step, I had to install a side sat for just 119 and ran it to my in port of the eastern arc 1000.4 sat dish. Then I had no problem with the 722k last year or the 922 downloading the guide and initial software to get it to update. I then removed the 119 sat out of the matrix and downloaded just eastern arc sats. Seems to be a software glitch that DISH thought that they fixed , but remains on new receivers trying to authorize and down load on the eastern arc dish.

I looked at the error numbers and in the receiver book. I kept on getting errors and signal problems. Believe it or not.......the cable connections outside were a little loose.

dont all the receivers do this?
they always go to 119, then you just change the sat and download it. no need to actually install 119, unless i am missing something.

The problem is, that the reciver wont pickup that its not on 119 as it thinks there is zero satellite signal on all birds, eventhough the checkswitch matrix says diffrently. It wasnt untill I was able to menu out of the reciver that it picked up 77 and was able to do a download after it was powered off for a few min.

i know. i go through this everyday. but, as you found out if you just keep messing with it-it WILL lock on something. i've had to roll through every transponder on every sat untill i found THE ONE it was going to lock on. then, you're good.
its a pain, but easier than putting up a new dish or to RA the receiver.
