I'm really sorry if there is an answer to this already; if so please point me to it...I don't want to waste anyone's time.

Here is my issue: I've had enough of ATT Uverse. It's expensive, the equipment they give me keeps failing and the channels are very poor for the price. I want to see about getting satellite. I'm in San Diego and I'd rather nit go for the usual 2 commercial satellite providers. I like the idea of tailoring my channels to get a mix of free and subscribed ones, perhaps even with a motorized dish.

Where do I start? Is there an easy set of equipment i can buy? I hate the thought of going with Dish Network just because a custom solution is too complicated.

Thanks in advance, you all seem to know a lot about this stuff!

Can anyone tell me if this is the wrong place for this question or that there have not yet been any folks able to reply?
