New 811 DOA

Well, shucks.

I signed up for the $149 promo waiting list about 6 weeks ago, installed was finally scheduled for this morning... new jack, new switch, everything looks fine... power up the 811, "Error 301: There is a serious problem with the internal smart card."

The installer called support, yadda yadda yadda, tried a few resets, nothing they can do for it. They entered an order for a replacement, which will, of course, be a refurb. I have no other options, according to dish support. He did say they wouldn't charge for shipping, which is normally not the case. Gee, thanks. :)

I emailed to see if there's any way to get a new replacement for a DOA never-used unit, but my confidence is low.
