New 'Battlestar Galactica' movie will completely reimagine the sci-fi tale

Jack Paglen, the writer of the upcoming Transcendence, has agreed to pen the reboot's screenplay. Paglen is a hot property for studios wanting to create sci-fi at the moment: he's also slated to write Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel. Glen Larson, who worked on the 1970s TV series, will produce the film, but there's no confirmation yet on who'll take on the role of director.

I love BSG (both the original and reboot). Cool idea with almost unlimited storytelling but MSSMITH is right, too soon.
I'd almost prefer they continued where they left off in the Moore series.

IE- Cylon homeworld still existed. Probably many many many Base Stars still left. We never really saw The Galactica go into the sun etc.

This will be a reboot of the original series, Starbuck and Boomer will likely be Male like TOS, I doubt anything will reference Ronald D. Moore's series ...

Reads to me that it will not be a new series, but a series of movies (depending on how successful they are).
