New Charge on Dish Bill

So I log into my Dish account this morning, and I see a new "FCC Regulatory Fee" of 3 cents. When was that added? Granted, 3 cents isn't much, but when we lose NFL Network, couldn't they cover the cost of the regulatory fee from what they are saving with no NFL Network

Might have something to do with this:

Satellite providers had been paying on a per-satellite-license basis, while other multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) paid on a per-subscriber basis, but the FCC in 2015 put DBS in that per-sub MVPD category at 12 cents per sub to start with and plans to phase in increases to bring them more in line with the $1 per sub paid by cable ops.

The FCC issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) last month proposing to double DBS regulatory fees in 2016 from12 cents per sub to 24 cents.

DBS was moved into the MVPD category at a 12-cent-per-sub fee in 2015. Satellite providers had been paying on a per-satellite-license basis, while other multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) paid on a per-subscriber basis. Cable operators had pushed for parity.

The FCC is actually proposing 27 cents per sub for DBS--a baseline of 24 cents and another, one-time, three cents per sub for 2016 to cover "facilities reduction costs." The FCC will be: 1) moving to new digs or otherwise reducing its office space footprint to save money, 2) says it will need $44 million to do that, and 3) covers all its expenses via user fees.

The FCC is actually raising it's fees by 11 - 13%.

actually its not a law, its a regulation. someone at the fcc just said "hey lets do this"
not act of congress or presidential signature required

This morning. There was a notice on last month's Dish bill about that fee taking effect June 30.
