Does anyone believe that we will get some new HD for Wed OCT 8? Its been a while since they have added anything.

Actually I doubt Dish Network will add much of anything in 2014.
By then, three things will have happened by a year before:
- In Feb. 2013, Dish has to carry all HD local channels in all markets where they carry any HD local channels.
- By 2010 or so, all National channels should be HD.
- By 2011 or so, all MPEG2 SD receivers should have been exchanged for MPEG4 receivers (which will be necessary to fit all the channels mentioned in the first two points).
So, things should be relatively stable by 2014. The emphasis will probably on more gee-wiz-bang features like a centralized whole-house server with 4 HD tuners, and outputs for each room (to avoid the "it's on the other DVR" problem).
Hopefully the whole house unit will also make mixed drinks and have a time machine expansion slot that will be activated in a future software upgrade with the purchase of the accessory and a small monthly charge.
ohhh.. maybe it will have a little mini nuclear reactor power supply that will route excess power to our homes via DishCOMM so you can do VOD and help solve the energy crisis too.
