My install is on July 1st! Yippee!

My order is for Choice Ultimate + HD4life + MRV + TV internet connection installation service ($25)

I'm getting over $200 cashback from BING for my initial order hardware plus $350 in rebates from Best Buy for buying an HDTV and DirecTV though them. I ordered 4 HD-DVRs since I am getting 40% back from BING, so the 2nd cost me $60 and the 3rd and 4th cost $120/ea after the cashback. I need 4-5 HD receivers anyways.

Anyways, about the hardware at install.........

INTERNATIONAL DISH

Assured getting the 2nd international dish by ordering the Filipino channel MYX for $4.99 ala carte (it shows on my order). I believe this is the cheapest way to assure getting the international dish at the time of install.

SWM-16

Ordered 4 HD-DVRs plus a free std receiver to have 9 tuners and hopefully assure getting a SWM-16. Is my logic sound here? I have an owned unit I could use instead of requesting that std receiver....but I thought that the installer could claim that wasn't part of the "free install" and charge me to upgrade. Is my logic sound here???

5-LNB ON THE PRIMARY DISH

It seems like I read that installers are installing the 3-LNB dish instead of the 5. Am I right on that?

I want to get the 5lnb while I'm getting the free install done, just in case....... I noticed that the HOPE channel, which is part of Choice Ultimate is only available on 119. I asking to make sure I get that channel a way to assure getting that LNB? Is there a better way to assure I get that LNB installed at the time of install at no extra cost?

Thanks again everyone!

Jason

They will do what is needed to fulfill your order. The exact hardware is not real important but you seem to have that part correct. Just know that the satellite usage & transponder plan changes all the time. I think I read somewhere the 72 degree slot was being replaced by another sat so the international rig would not be used.....it was a turkey in many ways anyhow.

International channels are on 95W not 72
72 has some local markets but they are duplicated on 99/103 now

If you SD locals are on either 101 or 72.5, you normally get a 3LNB slimline.

Easiest way to get a 5LNB installed - add the "en espanol" spanish add-on pkg to your order. It's only $15 extra/month & simply adds all the spanish channels on 119. Since it's an add-on, it's very easy to then drop after a month, just like a premium channel.

3 LNB SLIMLINE does not hit the 72 sat (99, 101 and 103)
The OLDER 3 lnb set up doesn't either , now that I think about it. (101, 110 and 119)
The majority of the time I've seen the 72 used it was with a old 18" dish.

Ice pointed out that the locals were on the 101 so a 3 LNB SlimLine will most likely be the one they use.

Yea I'm VERY well aware neither dish won't hit 72.5, thank you...

You evidently are not aware that ALL new subs (& movers) that currently have SD locals on 72.5, are ALWAYS installed with a slimline 3 & MPEG4 receivers, since ALL SD locals on 72.5 are dual-fed on Ka, either in SD or HD. D* NO longer installs 72.5 dishes for new/movers, as they are eventually going to have to switch ALL 72.5 subs to Ka/MPEG4 equip, so hence is why I said what I did.

So now, I think we ALL are in agreement that unless he asks for prog on 119, the OP's only going to get a SL3 - which is why I told him to do what I did... ;) ;)

thank you. Yes, the conversation seemed to derail a bit on the 72.5 discussion...though I don't disagree with incorrect information being corrected of course.

Thanks for the suggestion of the $14.99 Spanish programming package. Is "en espanol" the exact name of the package. I plan on calling today to add it to my July 1st install unless I hear a better/cheaper suggestion.

I am curious though, as there appears to be stations like HOPE and Jewish Life TV that are part of CHOICE Ultimate but are only found on 119. Is the spreadsheet I'm referencing incorrect? If it's not incorrect, then why would base programming not be on one of the principle satellites? It shows the rest of 119 being mostly Spanish programming and some local channels.

Can anyone with a 3lnb setup confirm they are getting these stations.

Thanks again!

New Cust: Ordered 4 HD-DVR w/MRV. What will get I get if I add 2 free std. receivers

Hello,

My install is on the 1st of July. I currently have 4 HD-DVRs on the order with MRV and the Internet Install Service on the order.

I was wondering if I add 1 or 2 of the FREE Standard receivers to the orders, will they actually install Standard receivers even though they are not compatible with MRV?

I have someone moving in with my wife and I, so we need at least the 5th outlet....plus I want to make sure I go over 8 tuners so I am assured a SWM-16.

Thanks,

Jason

Yes SD recievers will still be installed, just not be able to use MRV

Ok, good to know. I figured they would, but figured I'd confirm it.

What model SD receiver did you get?

It also depends if you get your locals off of the old 72.5 sat. In locations that do, they have been installing HD receivers in plcae of Std Receivers. I don't know if your location does or not. Maybe someone else on here can give you an answer.

I have 5 DVRs and no SWM. If I order MRV with DECA they would have to install a SWM 16, otherwise it isn't needed. Using my ethernet network for MRV now.

It's been answered here over 3 times already...

Yes, that is EXACTLY what D* calls it. It's NOT listed as a prog pkg on the "main" part of the website, but if I go into my account on-line, it IS a valid add-on that is listed under "my international channels". (but anyone else w/out a base spanish pkg can add it as well) You might have to go through a CSR or two that knows about it, but trust me, it DOES exist.

Same reason why there's some SonicTap music on 119 - because that's the way D* choose to do it. There's also actually a few other free TV channels on 119 that are available to anyone with any base pkg as well. Some are spanish only, but you do NOT need a spanish pkg to get them.

Can anyone with a 3lnb setup confirm they are getting these stations.

Trust me on this one - you AIN'T gonna get HOPE or JWTV w/out a 5LNB - they absolutely, positively, ARE on 119. But, I've only been doing satellite for over 22+ years, starting back on the BUD's. (before D* & E* existed)

OK, here's another source that agrees they are on 119:

They're on 119....If I set my dish to 18" round they disappear from guide
Since I have a Phase III (for my locals) they show in guide

yeah they got merged...sorry for not noting that ;)

ehhhh, I had created separate threads as it was kinda a subject, it was too late for me to edit the original, and figured it would get answered quickly and fall off the front page of posts.

No harm, no fowl! Next time I'll try to remember all 4 of my questions when I post the first time! :)
