Hello everybody. I'm a new member to forum.

I just disconnected my cable from Time Warner that I had for 10 years because its just too expensive and Im thinking of getting Dish Network because I wanted to try out satellite since I've never had any type of satellite before. I wanted to get Dish because of the promotion they have right now with the free 3 months of hbo, cinemax, and sho and also the free hdtv receiver and hd programming for 6 months but with no commitment. I'm thinking of subscribing to America's top 180 with the free local channels included and also thinking about getting VOOM. I called them up several times already asking them if I have to get another dish for the VOOM and some have said yes and some have said that i can get the TOP 180 with local and VOOM with the same dish, that i dont need more than one dish.
Does anyone know for sure if i need to pay extra for an additional dish to receive VOOM?
Also since i will not be getting into any commitments, will i be able to cancel anytime without any additional fees, and if i cancel will they send someone to pick up the dish and the receiver?
Is there any home protection plan or something like that that will cover any repairs if needed in the future? And how does the installation work, are they going to use the same wiring that Time Warner used?

Right now there is a charge for a second dish to get voom, however there is a way around it by asking for your locals and if you have a local channel thats on the 61.5 dish then you get that dish free of charge. At a later time you can add the voom line up unless you want to pay the $99 charge for the dish now. There is a one dish solution in testing now that will allow for voom to come in on one dish but I dont think its been officialy released to the public yet.

Unless you sign an 18 month term commitment for the protection plan wich gives you that plan at no monthly charge wich is normaly $5.99 you can quit at any time. Its not a common practice for the company to send out a tech to retrieve equipment once a subscriber has cancelled, the most you can get is for a tech to come out to take the lnbf and switch down so you can put them with the reciever(s) and remote(s) to send back in box's that the company will send out to you with prepaid shipping labels for ups.

Do not let the installer use the time warner wiring, most likely that coax is old and is more than likely rg-59 and wont work for long, a standard installation includes new coax, time frame for what your looking to have installed is roughly at around 3 - 4 hours depending on your residence and how hard it will be to get your system installed as well as outside conditions with line of site and where the dish(s) can be placed.

Do you know what market you live in? The dish you will get and how much it costs all depends on where you live.

Also, Real Soon Now we should see Voom/HD on the 129 satellite available to all, so you may not need the extra 61.5 dish- unless you want locals from there, or international channels.

But it will still cost $99 dollars for voom at 129 unless the customer has local channels there

Thanks for the responses!

How can I find out if I have any local channels that's on the 61.5 dish? That way I can get that dish free of charge and get VOOM. Or if I have any local channels at 129? Also when I subscribe to America's Top 180 with locals... how many dishes will I get and which one?

Oh well I really wanted to get VOOM HD but I don't think I'm willing to pay the extra $99 for it.
Thanks for the responses.

If you're savvy to install it yourself, you can find the stuff on ebay for less than the $100. Or maybe a local retailer will make you a deal that's less than the $100, but not likely.

Has DISH corrected for the Presidents speech?
