Nothing like pissing off your customers by shoving new menus down their throats to promote your products. Until a few days ago, pressing DVR on my 522 remote got me my recordings. Now it gets me a new menu so I can look at the "on demand" movies I have no interest in. A call to tech support conforms this is a new software change that cannot be turned off.

Hey Charlie, shove it! Just for that, no more referrals! As a board member of our townhouse association, I help residents find a suitable location for antennas and have told people about E*. I have never claimed any kind of financial credit as I wanted my recommendations for service and equipment to be unbiased. No longer. I will tell my neighbors that E* will most likely in the future expand their self promotions and, like the movie theaters, force you to watch a commercial of their services when you start up your device.

Bye-bye!

All because of a menu added.

I thought my 5yr and 7yr ols were spoiled.
Good riddens.

Ill admit they can be a pain, but if im not mistaken, cant hitting the DVR button twice still bring you directly to your recordings?

PVR 508 had this crap added a while back. Just creates more steps to getting what I want done with the device.

I applaud Dish Network for making things more difficult. If the "engineers" are hard at work adding more "enhancements" by this time next year it will take 5 or 6 steps to do what 1 step did only months ago. Maybe put a cialis ad in there and a quick video on the virtues of upgrading to AT180? They could start selling 30 second spots for that button press function and say raise our fees by a few bucks a month for the feature?

Ohh! I know! Maybe that screen could be sponsored by HeadOn! w/ that commercial we all love looping in the background!

Thanks for the tip on hitting it twice! This was pissing me off too, but not enough to quit. Not getting Indy in HD though, THAT's worth complaining about!

Wow, what a grinch! Yeah dude double click it.. Sure hate to live in your townhouses!

Your probally one of those guys who gripes about oilspots ini the parking lot!

I am with Neutron...

Not everyone is as tech savey as others... it took me a bit to figure out pressing the DVR button 1, 2, or ever three times brought up different aspects of the DVR service...

Actualy after navagating through both Charter(s) and Comcast(s) DVRs... the ones from Dish are easer to use! Just learn the short cuts!

If you want to simplify your life... purchase a remote simular to Harmony... one where you can program micros... add labels to a LCD... Press one button and away you go!

Now wait a minute, don't talk about the oil spots - that's a slick subject with me.:D

Over-all, I agree, I didn't subscribe to Dish or buy my 622 to watch propaganda adds and/or advertisements. Because of the backgound adds on AccuWeather, I no longer use it - not because it's an add, but because the contrast makes the weather un-readable (for those in my family that can read:D ).

I wonder if this qualifies for a suit under the handycap laws?

Hey if he wasn't tech savvy and wanted to fix his problem then he would come here and tell us about his problem and we would tell him how he could fix it. But no he came in here flaming dish about a new menu. So i think we can flame him a bit about something as silly as a menu. Guy trust me a menu is nothing we have people here who have 622's that have broken hdmi ports now that's something to flame about not a stinking menu.

You aren't allowed to be annoyed with the "new" feature?

Perhaps they have always had this "extra" space, but it sure seems like I suddenly "lost" valuable space for some stupid shows/movies I don't want to watch.

If the space has always been there, why haven't I been able to use it? :)

I am not near quitting, but you can allow people to be annoyed and complain. The anti-complainers need to take a chill pill as well! :)

To those that told me about the double click, thanks but I am very tech savvy and knew about it already. That wasn't the point. And to those who meanly pointed it out, Merry Christmas.

To those that supported me, thanks. There is no reason why E* should do this except to inconvenience me to their benefit. I pay for a service and any reduction in that service no matter how small is a pain. Had they been nice, they could have made it a preference. Even the tech support guy didn't think much of it.

To those that pointed out that others have worse problems, it seems to me that adding fuel to the fire for those customers not getting screwed by serious problems is no way to build loyalty.

To the poster that practically convicted me of being a condo-nazi, I thought I made it clear I helped others figure out where to put antennas and I'm not the type that tries to limit their choices. I'm the townhouse hillbilly, not the housing inspector. And I was the one to fight for being most liberal about where to put them - with lots of opposition.
