I always watch recorded shows, so I never finish exactly on the hour. Last night when we finished watching a recording my wife asked me to turn on the news on ABC. It was 5 minutes before 11 PM. They were running the credits for the Miss California Show that was just ending, then the news started. The lead story was about a surfer and a shark. My wife had some business to take care of so she paused the news. When she returned and unpaused, after a few seconds she got a dialogue box indicating the prime time recording had ended. When she returned to live TV the shark had already left the building. A couple nights ago the same thing happened with a plane crash landing on the freeway.
Is there a way to enter live TV during (near the end of) prime time with out being captured by the PTAT recording?

We run into this frequently and it's related to PTAT. Wait until you're watching a sporting event on one of the Big 4 networks and you have paused it and are playing catch up. At 11:03 or 11:04 or whenever PTAT actually stops, it dumps you to live TV. Just rewind to back where you were, right ? Nope, it didn't buffer it.

With the Hopper3, PTAT is really unnecessary except for autoskip. All you need for autoskip is to have it turned on one day and saved for minimum two days. How hard is it to check the guide once a day for new network programs in prime time?
