We are adding a new 211k (single) receiver in the bedroom and we have a dual 222K in the living room. We noticed that we have 2 cables tied together with a ground wire coming in from the dish to a switch of some sort. The switch has 2 inputs and 2 outputs. The dual lines are coming in and each put in the in ports with the ground wire attached to a screw. Then we have one cable coming out to the tv in the living room.

My question is: can we just run a cable from the other out port to the new receiver and leave the other one as is? Will this work or do we have to actually put the new line for the new receiver directly into the dish itself?

Once we figure this out - we will be good to go. Thanks for your help in advance.

Coax lines cannot be combined to feed two receivers (that being said, not sure what switch you are referring to except to say it is probably a diplexer for your ota input). You need to run a separate line to the new receiver.

Not sure what he is talking about there. The switch your are referring to is simply just a groundblock. All you need to do is run a line from your new receiver location to that open port on the ground block. The side with the two cables and the groundwire combined is the dual cable that goes straight to the dish
