NEWBIE DISH RECEIVER 625 BAD HARD DRIVE

Do you have the DISH Home Protection Plan (DHPP)? If not call dish and get that plan it is only $5.99 per month and well worth it. They will cover the reciever and the other equipment, like switch. We have had 2 swithces and coutless reciever replaced in teh last 4 ueays on the plan.

THis is all assuming you own the box and it is not leased and is over 1 year old. If not call dish the warranty is 1 year and if leased they should replace under the lease

If you replace the HDD with the exact same model (all numbers in model number MUST match), it will format and use the replacement drive.

It is easier and cheaper to have Dish replace the 625.

Dish uses at least 2 different Hard Drive either will work in the 625 ( I have swaped them) You can pick one up on EBAY cheap (around $20.00)

1) Western Digital WD2500JB (250gb)
2) Samsung HA250JC (250gb)

Samsung is a quieter driver if I have a choice I use the Samsung

but remeber if you change it yourself you will break the warranty seal and never beable to have dish replace it for free. So do what is best for you

It might be a software glitch also, I had a 625 replaced teh HD and it did not fix it.. It was a board firm ware problem

What about other models ?
