I've always been fasenated by whirlpools. I once googled them to see if I could find pictures of any in the ocean. The searched ended up a disappointment with most of them being just eddies with a bit of a curl.

Theres a whirlpool that forms sometimes in the Detroit river near the Ambassador bridge that creates a problem for the power boats during the Thunder on the river races.
