just bought a vs2000 from gosatallite they advised I come here for help.

Using a 10ft dish with c and ku capability. Works fine on the t6 recvr.

but no pic. on the FTA. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Curt

no pic.

thanks for the reply.
My system is hooked exactly like that. I have tried both polarity on several
satillites. Get a good signal bar but no pic. anywhere. This is my second FTA
that I have owned so I know how to set the lnb freq. etc.

I suspect a defective recvr. but cannot prove it.

I have set the time and it shows correct on the recvr display but the onscreen
shows "am 03:00 1 jan 1900". I have updated the pgm. from viewsat.

-go to the installation screen
-automtic installation
make sure you are on a satellite that has an active C or Ku transponder

LNB is standard (not universal)
LO is 5150 for C-band and 10750 for KU band

save it and add a transponder in the manual set up

so as an example, I noticed ABC is still on T5 (according to Lyngsat)
Pull that up on the C-Band
Enter 5150 on the Viewsat as the LO frequency

when you go into manual scan, enter
3935 for frequency
2639 for symbol rate
V for polarity

This is BYU TV....and it should come up

funny how the company you bought it from has no support...they tell you to come here :)

What happens when you do the above? Do you get signal? The bar on the right should turn yellow

Also, if it is hooked up like the chart above, make sure you turn the DiSEqC on to A or B 9depending on which you have set up as..C band may be 1 and KU 2

no pic

switch is set to c band. when I do channel search on the recomended tp
(or any tp for that matter) the onscreen always says "failed".
the signal bar shows about half way up and is blue

I am not famillia with this receiver, but once you see "failed", that means you are not on the satellite and no signal. Blue is not the right color for signal indication as far as I know, you will see red or yellow on the signal bar if there is signal.

When you get signal on analog it did not means there is digital signal there, you need to twist the dish a bit to get the digital signal. If you are manually setting the dish, try more by lower or push the dish up a bit. I remembered when I was live at my last home, there is a 7.5' dish set up by me over ten years ago, although I got a crystal picture on the analog signal, but none from digital, I uses click the dish one or two click to east or west to obtain the digital signal. You should try more, although you has FTA receiver before it does not mean you know all this stuff, we, the dealer had encountered so many brands and did service, installs and trouble shooting so many brands, sometime, we still stuck in an unknow problem from system.

OK, after this post I went back and rechecked all dish alignments. I have
owned and maintained this dish (as well as another one) for many years.
I made some very tiny adjustments (using a good quality signal meter).
I did this while aimed at t5, went back to the FTA vs2000 and there is no
pic. Signal bar is showing about 70 which should bring in something.
So far nobody has had any comment on why the date is showing as

am 03:00 1 Jan 1900

dont they have that telephone supportline?
its rich that they send their support to another forum. i guess as long as its not costing them anything its alright.

In this case, I suggest you take your TV and receiver close to the dish and try alight the dish there, so you will know if your signal bar is jumping or something, don't trust the meter at current time, there another satellite at the same position and you may mistake that one instead of T5.

The time and day, I do have the problem on this but not that much difference, maybe the host of this forum may help.

OK, first thanks to everybody that responded to this post.
It is now working.
I hooked it up to bigger solid dish with different lnb`s and that is all it
took!
The old one worked fine on analog but I guess it is not good enough
for DVB. Live and learn!!

Again, thanks to all,

Curt
