No Sat 110 with Dish 1000.2 and SD R311 Receiver

Just bought used Dish 1000.2 on ebay. I peeked the dish on 119 fine with my old 311 receiver. When I did a "Switch Check" the 110 didn't show in any of the windows. I had 129- All, 119- All, Conn was in the 3rd window. Not sure what the conn means. I thought 129 would be the problem. I tried it in connections 1,2 and 3. Do you think the ploblem is in the LNBF or maybe a software issue in the 311.

You don't have the dish aligned correctly is my guess. Have you set the skew for your zipcode?

I'm throwing in with boba here. You're probably pointing too low and too far west.

Cover the center part of the lnb and see if you still have 119. If you do, skew is probably off, if you do not, do as boba and harshness stated.

Someone told me that aluminum foil works well as a handy quick cover for ajacent LNBs. Is that true?

Is there a way to force a software update?

The simplest way is to 'turn off' the receiver with the remote control once it has fully booted up. If it needs an upgrade, it should start downloading within a few minutes.

If you press menu-6-1-3 you can find out what your current software version is. The latest versions are P436,P437 or P438.

110 was the biggest reason I needed to go from 1000.2 to 1000.4. Because of my LOS due to large trees. In rainy/overcast weather it was GONE. It was great during the winter when the trees were bare. Way worse than 129 for me and I know they're both newer, stronger satellites.
