Gallery HD - Exploring the world's greatest museums, art galleries and architecture, with HD detail and clarity unseen anywhere else on television. November and December highlights include:
  • The Creative Eye: Andrew Geller -- Andrew Geller is an architect and painter who inaugurated, as The New York Times put it, "a new era in luxury home design." His A-frame vacation home, which first appeared on the sand dunes of Long Island, spawned legions of imitators who sought to recreate the comfortable setting of Geller homes. After 50 years, he continues to develop trendsetting spaces for major clients. The Creative Eye explores the inspirations and drive that continue to guide one of America's most innovative architects.
  • Treasures from the Palace Museums -- China is the world's oldest living civilization, and this 12-part series illustrates over 6,000 years of Chinese history through the holdings of the Palace Museums. Located in Beijing and Taipei, the Palace Museums hold over 150,000 artifacts that include paintings, pottery, lacquerware and stunning carvings in jade.
  • Painting the Country -- This program explores the desert world of the Warlayirti Artists, a collective of painters who live in the town of Balgo, Australia. The production follows them to the rugged beauty of their ancestral homeland, where they encounter the waterholes, animals and sacred mountains of their paintings, after 50 years away. For the first time, viewers will see in HD the images that inspired Warlayirti art, which has been compared to Op Art of the 1960s.
  • Acrobats and Maniacs -- One of Montreal's favorite exports is the Nouveau Cirque, or New Circus, a hybrid art form that combines circus, dance, gymnastics and performance. The program follows the daily life and discipline of a circus school in Quebec City. Members of Cirque EOS develop one of their most ambitious--and dangerous--acts, then perform it in a high-tension climax brought into your living room with vivid images on possible in HD.
