Noticd this last night when I was trying to figure out the LNB issue with the Satworks

I took the 3688 and flashed it with a 3618 software, making it a simpler unit. When I scanned SBS6, there was a minor league ballgame on. It showed a $ after the channel, saying it was scrambled. But it wasn't

I reflashed it back to a 3688 (after the 3618 didnt help the issue) and rescanned. The same channel showed up on the "free" scan (the 3688 you can pick just Free or ALL...the 3618 does not)

Now why would one unit say it was scrmabled and the other one didnt?

The above is the reason why when I scan for new finds, I always say "all channels" :)

I used to get the same on the PCI card especially on T5 radio, the Nexus showed it as encrypted although it was ITC and the Coolsat shows it as free.

It may be the receiver just reads the info from the PID and going by that, other receivers may "look" at the chan to see whether it's really open and the info is lying.

my 3618 shows ASN and Newsworld as free, but the pansat shows them as scrambled. one of those things that makes me go hmmmmmmmmmm
