I have Ooma phone service (VOIP) and NO land-line. I would like to avoid the Dish $5 per month for not having it hooked up to a phone line. Is there anyway I can hook the USB port to a wirless network receiver, then to my wireless router?

You can use a home plug connected to the eithernet port. The USB does not allow dsl.
To clarify that, the homeplug device needs to be connected to the Ethernet port of your router, not the 722. After that just reset the connection on your 722 (and ensure that the 722 is connected directly to the outlet, not through a power strip). Alternatively, if you have a long enough Ethernet cable, you can just run it directly from your router to your 722.

Intermittent problem
