I am planning on possibly having Time Warner Cable HD added along with DishNetwork. I am hoping to run two optical audio cables, one from the output of my 622 and one from my TW cable HD DVR, to something that will combine them into one output to run to my one and only optical audio input on my home theater surround sound system.

Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing and if so what is it called and where I might find one. I would think if this can be done, it might possibly just output the optical audio from whichever STB I have on to my surround sound system.

I did some searching on the internet. I also looked on monoprice.com but all I could find was a thing that would put 1 input to 3 outputs.

Any help would be appreciated.

We have 30 days to try out TW and decide if we want to keep it. If we do we will probably go with their equivalent of the Everything pak with HD and keep the minimum needed to get HD with Dish, which I think is the top 100 pak plus HD.

A little clarification of my previous post I hope.

I guess there is a switcher which will combine inputs to one output but it seems you have to manually switch between input selections.

What I am hoping for is something that will select the input automatically by whichever input is turned on.

However, on further thought, I don't know what would happen if both inputs were turned on at the same time in that case.
