Ordering PPV without broadband or telephone

Tech told me about a year ago when he installed my system that I needed the telephone line for that and interactive features.

I have since cancelled Dish but my parents upgraded this weekend from the 222k to the 722 and so when I went over there I asked if I could try and order something (since Dish was having the 99 cent movie sale) just to test it out.

The movie went thru in seconds and they don't have either internet nor phone.

Was it just by accident that it went thru or what?

Even Saturday morning when the Dish tech came out to upgrade us to the 722k from the 222 he was shocked as well.

It will work, for a time. Eventually, the receiver is going to ask for a connection, telephone or internet. If it doesn't happen in a short period, the receiver will stop working until the connection happens.
