Ahh man did Pat Summerall die? He and Madden were the best team ever.

I grew up listening to Pat and Tom Brookshier and later Pat and John Madden. Hearing that voice say, "60 Minutes is next, except on the West Coast where it will be seen at it's regularly scheduled time" was in many US living rooms in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

I'll always fondly remember his last call alongside John Madden: "And it's right down the pike.....ADAM VINITIERI....and the Patriots win Super Bowl 36....UNBELIEVABLE!! :)

RIP Pat.....you were a true American icon.

BTW, his autobiography about his alcoholism demons is a MUST read!!

Very shocked that Pat Summerall passed away. He was the NFL along with John Madden. He was so generational. What I mean is that your kids listened to him, your dads listened to him, your grandparents listened to him.

That "old guard" is passing away. Jack Buck, Jack Whitaker, Curt Gowdy, Ray Scott and now Summerall. Summerall made the games sound like events. Pat and John became stars and that helped with the emergence of cable tv in the 1980s.

Summerall should have no regrets. And you know as a tv viewer, listening to Summerall, I dont either.
