PBS-HD as seen by switches!!!!!

Noticed something interesting yesterday. Wondered if anyone else ever noticed this.

I have PBS-HD working great with Invacom quad lnb and a 22khz tone switch. Great picture with a 47% signal (1 meter dish).

Here is the interesting part??? Replaced the tone switch with a Spaun SUR420F uncommitted diseqc switch and my signal drops to 37% with horrible video.

Replace the switch with a Pansat diseqc switch and my signal drops to 30% with no video.

The problem would appear to be linear only and somehow does not affect the circular. Maybe because linear signals are weak to start.

Any suggestions or input???

what kind of signal do you get with a direct run, no switches?

Yes, Crappy switches.

Direct wire, Spaun SUR420F and tone switch all give me the same signal of 47%.

But the DMS and Pansat switches each drop the signal down to 38 - 39%.

The rest of the signal loss was a cable issue.

Lesson - When tuning weak satellite, try to use a tone switch or High quality Diseqc like Spaun.
