Peacock email email announced it's price is going up $2 a month, from $5.99 to $7.99. Premium Plus add on is the same at $6 so that price only increases $2 as well. With the loss of Indycar, Peacock's value drops for me, but still, EPL, IMSA, Tour de France, Olympics still provides enough value.

My $20 a year special ends right after the Big Ten Football season is over.

If they do not provide a similar discount, I will just cancel, the service is absolutely worthless to me except for Football.🏈

Well, when it's time to renew in September, IF they don't have another $20 or so special at the time, I'll be canceling. It's just not worth much more than that to us.

I was going to cancel to re-up on an annual plan to save a couple bucks, but then when I went to do that, it offered $1.99 a month (not including Plus) for six months.

My deal for $20 for the year is up around Black Friday.

If I do not get the same deal or close, I will just cancel, Big Ten Football will be done by then, NFL Sunday Night I can watch via the Antenna or YTTV ( just started it back up, will cancel again after College Championship).

I find nothing else on there I wish to watch, vs a service like Paramount, where I view a lot of TV Series.

And up again...
Going from $8 / $14 for premium and premium plus to $11 and $17.

Annually, $80 / $140 to $110 / $170.

I'm uncertain who likes Peacock that they can afford to keep popping rates. For me, it is niche sports heaven, but Indycar left, which is costing me more money to retain viewing rights of that. EPL is a pretty big deal still and they cover the IMSA related content.

Even as we go a la carte, losing rights and content doesn't stop these companies from moving the rates up.

As I have said for years. This is to be expected. Eliminate any platform that shares your product(cord cutting, cable, satellite) Then you are so large you can control all your content, and charge what ever you want. You got rid of the middleman, so its pure profit!

That is the trouble. Comcast owns USA, which is effectively NBC Sports now. And that requires a subscription on cab/sat. Then they split off enough content to put it on streaming. No reward to the subscriber of USA.

I get stuff costs money, but they have a la carted it so much to create an illusion of things costing less when you are buying more. But it isn't remotely real. I just wish NBC still had Indycar. And then I'd take the bump. Regardless, I unsubscribed/resubscribed and am down to $3 a month for 6 months. Feels petty, but trying to absorb all the nickel and dime price hikes on services.

They can charge whatever they want, does not mean I have/want to subscribe.

You make any service too expensive, people will then think about if they really need it, or give up the one or two shows they may watch on that said service.

For evidence, look at what is happening to Paid Live TV today, people are understanding that the same content on paid Live TV are available on the streaming services, for a much less expensive price, better quality and a lot more content.

We'll see what they offer when mine expires this year, I also have the Annual Deal ... I think it actually went up to $29 for the year, last ...
If they offer this again, I'll continue, if not, I'll move on ... NFL is only on for a few months, maybe I'll drop it except for those few months. If they give another like I currently have for the year, I'll re up.

There lies the problem. It will be down to 4 or 5 companies controlling everything, and controlling the price. That isnt competition at all. Now if you had 15 or 20 providers the competition could compete for eyes.

That is the exact issue with local stations. For years its just not Chicago without its NBC affiliate, is hundreds of channels all over the country closing off on millions of people!

You just keep seeing big companies gobbling up bigger companies. What will we be left with in 5 or 10 years? 1 or 2?
We are the ones who are left out to dry.

I am in the same boat - I have done the $20 Black Friday deal for the past 2 years. It will get me through the heart of Big10 football season. If there isn't something similar, I won't renew and I will miss out on the Peacock exclusive game the weekend after Christmas. I have NFL+ so I will have access to it on mobile at least. I might sign up for 1 month for the Olympics and Super Bowl in February, cancel, then re-up next summer for the Tour de France and British Open in July. It is hard to justify it year round, at least for what I would consume it for.

I remember paying $350 or so (maybe $250?) in 2001ish, for the Directv EPL package (and the DVR is called a VCR). That was usually one game a weekend. Now I'm bitching about $11 a month for access to over half the games.

Personally I just hate losing content and the price going up.

Incredibly doubtful, considering they would have to get rid of CBS or NBC for the two companies to merge.

Per sub fees are still a big part of both companies revenues, the broadcast networks still receive some of the highest fees.

I think they mean the services merging, not Viacom and Comcast. A quick look online, however, implies it isn't even a "rumor" at this point. Just blogs trying to come up with something to publish about.

Sadly, the $60 rebate I got through Sams for the annual sub last year seems to be gone. We actually get NBC OTA, so I am not sure why I would keep Peacock unless they offer me a sweetheart deal to renew. I will probably let it lapse to see if they do offer any discounted renewal.
