I have been getting the phone line not connected message a few times on the tv screen. I check all the phone line connected to each receiver and there is nothing wrong with the phone line.

Anyone know what is happening and how to avoid getting this message.

The OP was on-line at the time I asked that, and was going to tell him that when he replied, however I guess he asked the question and left......however yes DSL filter per receiver.

Take a voice telephone and connect it in place of the receiver to verify a dial tone. If you are getting a dial tone with the telephone but not with the receiver, I would have the receiver replaced.

There is a filter connected to a phone and receiver. The filter has been there for a year since the day I got Dish Network and DSL. I never move anything. I don't get the message everyday. Probably, at random.

Are you, perhaps, on the phone sometimes when your daily update is performed? I hear clicking on my line if I am on the phone at the time the daily update occurs, and I always get the 'you must have a phone line connected to avoid the monthly fee' message when I check my receiver after being on the phone when the daily update is performed.

Is this correct??

The DSL filter is plug in the wall.

There is a PHONE and DSL plug on the DSL filter.

I plug in the telephone to the PHONE side and the RECEIVER LINE to DSL side.

Is this correct?

Just plug a splitter into the phone side and plug both the phone and the receiver into that side. That is your problem.

or ask your isp to install a splitter at your network interface device (nid) (if acceptable) so you won't have to deal with phone line filters :)

No....Use a two way phone splitter and connect the receiver and phone to the phone input on the filter...The DSL side of the filter is for internet connction only....That will solve your problem....

I had the same message, finally went away a few weeks ago. Believe it or not, because of that message I realized my Landline wasn't working (VOIP adapter pooped out) that's how often i use Landlines anymore!

Makes me wish E* would kill the need for POTS and allow us to hook up ethernet instead, I would love to drop my Landline!
