I am having Dish Network installed and I was wondering what the phone line is used for and do I really need to have the satellite box connected to a phone line? I only have one phone outlet in my house and it's not in either room where the satellite box or TVs will be. I was told by the retailer that if I don't have the satellite box connected to a phone line it will cost $5.00 extra per month. Is this true? Can anyone tell me what the phone line is used for and what the extra $5.00 per month is for? Thanks for any info.
