PhoneGnome at CES: The VoIP Product the Phone Companies Are Afraid to Let You Hear About!

2006 International CES
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2006--TelEvolution's PhoneGnome (SANDS Convention Center Booth #71837G) is a new worldwide voice technology option that seamlessly joins Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications with a customer's existing Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) service.

PhoneGnome (http://www.phonegnome.com) will debut at CES this January at the annual Las Vegas electronics showcase event as part of the CES Consumer VoIP Tech Zone located at the Sands Convention Center January 5-8, 2006 in booth #71837G. Available nationwide, PhoneGnome retails for $119.00.
PhoneGnome easily installs between a regular phone line and any broadband connection. Consumers can then make Internet and PSTN phone calls from the same phone and receive the benefit of free calling between PhoneGnome owners. Once installed PhoneGnome also eliminates many of the recurring monthly costs for services that are standard FREE features with PhoneGnome.
By combining Voice-over-Internet (VoIP) systems with traditional phone service in a simple, affordable package for a one-time cost at purchase, PhoneGnome eliminates recurring charges on owners' phone bills by providing free voice mail, free three-way calling, free telemarketing screening, free call forwarding, free call transfer and free click to call from an online address book, with NO MONTHLY FEES at all, making the features really free, just like email.

Gee, I wonder who is going to buy this company out. Looks like broadband internet is going to play a role in all of our communications and entertainment in the future. People will need the extra money that they are going to save for gasoline and raising cable/satellite bills. A lot of people would switch over to broadband internet just to get this phone service.

The one thing thats interesting about the phonegnome - is that there $22/month plan includes unlimited international calling to a LOT of areas.

to list: Continental United States and Canada PLUS unlimited calling to the popular international destinations: Western Europe, Moscow, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia, Mexico City, Chile, Puerto Rico, Buenos Aires, and Sao Paolo, all for just $21.95 per month.

S O S ??

Off hand, it sounds like a lot of hype for the same old ...stuff...

SKYPE has a similar service, as do others.
Several companies make boxes which let you hook your regular telephone to VoIP connections.
Those boxes go for $20, $50, and maybe $90, and in some cases will let you use a two-line phone to select whether you're on your land line or your VoIP line.

If the subject is of interest to ya, do a little homework.
