I'm watching the boxing match on HBO (SD) tonight and the PQ is very bad.
Mild to fast motion causes the video to show major macroblocking and
artifacting. I also notice the same thing on Showtime and the other movie channels when there is fast video movement.
Are these channels delivered directly to Cablevision and they just pass them on to us or is Cablevision compressing them first?

Also on the broadcast channels the PQ is ok but it seems like they could use more bandwith. I did a recording of Ch7's digital stream during the sports report and the highest the data rate got during fast movement was 5.4 MPBS.
Most of the time it stayed around 3MBPS.
When my DVD-R recorder is set to two hour SP mode I get a max of around 6.5 MPBS during Fast movement.
Would the PQ be better if CV's MPEG2 encoders max data rate was increased to 6 or 7 MPBS.
