There is a survey being conducted for public library online users. This one happens to be sponsored by Fairfax VA but anyone can take it, regardless of where you live. It is quite short, and you will be helping determine the future direction of libraries. If you could have wireless access, lots of soft chairs and outlets and a coffee shop, would you visit a bricks and mortar building?

ALSO- Please report here if you've been so kind as to take this survey. The local "authorities" know this has been presented here at Sat Guys and are viewing this as a test run to gauge acceptance and interest.

Thank you.

We still need more volunteers. The more, right now, the better it reflects on Sat Guys!

Libraries are morphing into entities that are useful, today. Continuing education in a less structured environment, tailored to the individual. Visits, at least in Fairfax County VA, are increasing. More emphasis is on electronic media. So who's teaching electronic media to the masses? Who's showing how to apply for jobs online (or unemployment benefits online), who has live children's events, who has storytime, author lectures, veteran's talks about times gone by? Books, periodicals (virtual and real), meeting rooms, book clubs, social events, etc?

How many people bring their kids to libraries for school, scout, and other functions or research? Or just the pleasure of reading?

If you haven't been to a library in a while, visit now, and ask what's on offer!

Thanks to all. I hope a few more come thru.

Just found this thread - hope my input wasn't too late!
